8-year-old sisters help to find stolen Baby Jesus

LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) - The owner of a stolen Baby Jesus wants his figurine returned, and he's getting help from a surprising source: two 8-year-old sisters.

Ashley and Brooke Sleeva visited the Senate Coney Island in Livonia earlier this month when they saw the nativity scene at the entrance was missing something. Baby Jesus had been replaced by a note from the owner, begging for someone to bring back the figurine.

"Please help Senate Coney Island find Baby Jesus before his birthday on December 25 th," said Ashley, reading from a letter she wrote 7 Action News. The girls hope others will hear this story and help bring back the figurine.

In the meantime George Dimopoulos, owner of the restaurant, has received a replacement. His employees got together and bought him a new Baby Jesus. Although Dimopoulos appreciates the gesture, he says he can't forget about the original piece that he had brought from Greece, his homeland. "I felt like I lost one of my kids, like one of my grandkids. I felt like crying," Dimopoulos told Action News.
