DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit City Council will hold a meeting Wednesday night to hear public comment regarding the Red Wings newly proposed arena and entertainment district in Downtown Detroit.
Residents want to make sure that building the new arena and entertainment district will bring new jobs to the area. They are also asking for Olympia Development, the group in charge of the building, to include a community benefits agreement, which would outline things like their hiring practices and protections for homeowners.
It would cost around $650 million to build the entire arena and entertainment district, and the proposed arena would be located on Woodward near I-75, near Comerica Park and the Fox Theatre.
Residents will be able to speak Wednesday night at the meeting, which takes place at 5 p.m.
