TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) - Taylor Police are investigating the shooting death of a clerk who was found inside a check-cashing business on Telegraph Road.
Police responded after a hold-up alarm was received from the Advance America Cash Advance store, just after noon.
When officers arrived, they discovered the clerk had been fatally shot. The front window had been shattered.
Police say the victim is Chelsea Ann Small from Gibraltar.
Small's family says the 30-year-old single mother leaves behind an eight-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene before authorities got to the business. Investigators closed the plaza to investigate.
The Taylor Police Chief tells 7 Action News it appears that the clerk was killed in the process of a robbery.
