(WXYZ) - The US Coast Guard says a metro Detroit man has drowned while swimming near Port Austin in the thumb.
A patrolling Coast Guard boat found the man's brother stranded on boulders near a Port Austin marina shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The man told Coast Guard personnel that he and his brother were out on a watercraft when it overturned. The man said he was able to make it to the rocks, but his brother was missing.
A search by the Coast Guard and the Huron County Sheriff's Marine Division and Dive team found the man's body about an hour later.
His name has not been released, pending family notification.
