DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Dearborn police tell 7 Action News that an arrest has been made in connection with the murders of two employees of a Dearborn Family Dollar store.
Police identify the suspect as 34-year-old Lavere Bryant of Dearborn. He was arraigned at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday on two counts of First Degree Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Unlawful Imprisonment, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearms.
Police have not released any further information about the case.
Joe Orlando and Brenna Machus were murdered after a suspect entered the store on the night of Monday, July 16. Orlando was found shot to death in the store.
Two days later, police discovered Machus' body near the Southfield Freeway and Michigan Avenue.
Rewards of more than $15,000 were offered in hope of finding a suspect.
"Everything about this case is extremely upsetting. This was not an easy case to put together. I commend all of the tenacity of the Dearborn Police Department and am grateful for the help from the public and media," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
