His decision came after City Council refused to act on the state's proposed 30-year lease of Belle Isle.

A deal with the state would have allegedly saved the city of Detroit $6 million per year.

Mayor Bing made major cuts to the Parks and Recreation Department Friday. The mayor says fifty parks were closed in the city to prevent Detroit from sinking deeper into a deficit.
