DETROIT (WXYZ) - When FBI agents had D'Andre Lane try to reenact the moment he says his daughter was snatched by carjackers , they were secretly videotaping the father accused of killing his 2-year-old daughter, Bianca Jones.
On the video that was played for the jury Tuesday, Lane often pauses for long stretches of time and says he doesn't remember many details of what happened or even the exact route he was taking the morning of December 2, 2011.
Lane tells FBI agent Christopher Hess that two men in a red car tricked him into stopping by beeping their horn and telling him one of the brake lights on his vehicle was out.
Lane says Bianca was in the back seat when the men threatened him with a gun to stay back.
As the carjackers drove away, Lane told FBI agents that he repeatedly said "My baby in the car".
When pressed for many of the details, Lane told agents that he couldn't remember, saying "I was scared".
One of Lane's defense attorneys was present but is not visible on the recording.
Investigators believe Lane killed Bianca when she used the bathroom on herself and then concocted the carjacking story to cover it up.
Bianca has never been found.
On Wednesday, an expert in the use of cadaver dogs is expected to testify.
