Female Detroit Police officer killed in apparent murder-suicide in Redford Township

REDFORD TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - Police confirm that Detroit Police Officer Anna Hamilton was found murdered in a home in Redford Township.

Redford Township Police responded to her home on Kinloch Street around 11:40 a.m.

They arrived and found a man and Hamilton dead inside. They had been shot.

Family members on the scene say it was Hamilton and her husband. They had been reportedly having marital trouble.

Police say it is still early in the investigation, but it's possible Hamilton was the victim of a murder-suicide.

Throughout the day, Detroit Police officers could be seen arriving outside the home in mourning.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig describes Officer Hamilton as a respected officer, who had been recognized for her work. She had been serving the city for 16 years.
