INKSTER, Mich. (WXYZ) - An early morning shoot-out in Inkster has people in one neighborhood fearing for their lives. In all there are two shooting scenes, three victims and four people in custody.
Police are still working to determine if the incidents are related, while the people who live in the neighborhoods where the shootings took place are wondering what it will take to bring an end to the violence.
Tanisha McDonald says, " I heard the shots and the second thing I thought; where are the kids?"
Fortunately her kids are safe. But they will have quite the story to tell their classmates. The same story Tanisha told 7 Action News.
"I woke up to gun shots and they just kept coming, kept coming," she says. "It sounded like they were coming through my window. It sounded like a war zone."
It almost looks like one a war zone. A neighbor's Jeep spun around nearly 180 degrees after it was hit by the get-away vehicle.
Michigan State Police are taking the lead in the investigation. MSP is assisting Inkster with all shootings and homicides.
"There was a van with four individuals that had gotten into a dispute or gun battle with two people on foot," says MSP Lt. Mike Shaw. "The four people in the van are in custody. Two are at the Inkster police department, there's one person at the hospital at Annapolis, and a fourth person in serious or critical condition."
The other shooting happened several miles away near Bayham and Hopkins around 1:30 in the morning. The victim is expected to survive and there is currently no one is in custody.
