Highland Park officers OK after police cars collide

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - Three Highland Park police officers are expected to be alright after two of their cars collided Tuesday morning.

It happened at the intersection of Woodward and Manchester. Both units were rushing to help a fellow officer in trouble when an unmarked police car that was turning onto Woodward collided into a police car that was already heading north.

Highland Park's police chief tells 7 Action News that his officers suffered some bumps and bruises but are going to be OK.

The officer they were racing to help was trying to stop an armed assailant who had just tried to ram him. We're told that person escaped on foot and the search is still on for him.
