Inkster may avoid emergency manager

INKSTER, Mich. (WXYZ) - A state review team has voted to accept a consent agreement with Inkster, which will likely help the city avoid an emergency manager.

Under the consent agreement, city leaders can stay in charge as long as they meet certain conditions and financial goals.

A state review team was appointed to look over Inkster's finances late last year. They completed their review in December and found several "troubling" issues, including deficits and cash shortfalls.

Leaders have been working to develop a plan to fix the city's finances over the past few months.

On Wednesday, the review team voted to accept a consent agreement, which should be reflected in the team's final recommendation to Governor Rick Snyder. He will have the final say on the issue.
