LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) - A Livonia eye doctor is facing 30 felony charges, accused of violating the controlled substance act by issuing false prescriptions for Hydrocodone.
John Jacobi is accused of issuing the fraudulent prescriptions to himself and others over a two year period ranging from November 2008 to December 2010. Prosecutors say over that period he provided 96 prescriptions for a total of 5,640 does of Hydrocodone.
The 48-year-old Jacobi is the owner of Suburban Eye Care in Livonia. He was arrested at his business on Monday.
Jacobi has been released on $50,000 personal bond and is due back in court August 29. He faces a maximum sentence of 4 years in jail and/or a $30,000 fine on each of the charges.
