DETROIT, Mich (WXYZ) - When you first walk in it looks like an upside down Forrest.
Then, you enter the swanky dungeon and it opens up to one of Detroit's hippest new art galleries with a format that is a first of it's kind in North America.
"It's an opportunity for local artists specifically. Red Bull provides them with all their materials and space to create their work and to formulate an exhibition," says Curator Matthew Eaton.
Eight artists at a time have the opportunity to work and display their pieces at the new Red Bull House of Art in Eastern Market on Winder Street.
Red Bull is providing the space and all the materials to make it happen.
"In this economy for someone to hand you something like that is absolutely amazing and they will be here for the long haul," said Artist Franklin Jonas who's work called "The Star Project" filled the middle of the gallery with more than 100 bright colored stars.
The grand opening was packed with art lovers from across the community.
Every four months the gallery will bring in eight new artists to work and display their work.
"I think it's a very good thing that Red Bull is doing for Detroit, and their going to keep doing it," says Jonas.
The gallery is open on weekends from 10:0 am to 4:00 pm.
