WAYNE, Mich., (WXYZ) - Audio and video recordings newly released to Action News Wednesday show the urgency to get to the scene of the December explosion that destroyed the William C. Franks Furniture store in Wayne.
The recordings include 911 calls, police and fire radio traffic and images captured by cameras mounted to police cars and inside a nearby business.
The video footage doesn't show the blast itself, but one camera inside Northside Hardware shows the store shaking and ceiling tiles tumbling down when the explosion happened right across the street.
Two employees died in the explosion; 64-year-old James Zell and 54-year-old Leslie Machniak. The business' owner, Paul Franks, remains hospitalized. His family says he is in good condition.
