DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - Detroit Police tell 7 Action News they arrested a mother for drunk driving after she crashed with her 3-month-old child in the backseat.
Police said a mother and her child crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Grove and Bramell Streets on Detroit's west side Saturday night. Police said the mother failed to yield at a yield sign. When the cars crashed the mother and son's white station wagon finally came to a stop on the front lawn of a home where it knocked down the front yard fence.
A fifth of Five O'Clock vodka sat on the roof of the car. Witnesses tell 7 Action News that police pulled it out of the vehicle and the neighbors that ran to help the mom and child said the vehicle smelled of booze.
The mother, her 3-month-old, and the woman of the other vehicle were all transported to the hospital. The extent of their injuries and their conditions are not known at this time.
