One woman escaped, but the suspect forced the other three to drive off at gunpoint. Detectives say he made the women drive around some Detroit neighborhoods and also sexually assaulted them.
The suspect then allegedly demanded money from the victims. They stopped at a gas station where he allowed one woman to get out to of the van to get money. She mouthed to a store clerk to call police. At that point, the woman hid behind the counter with the clerk, and the suspect drove off with other two women before police could arrive.
Detectives say he again sexually assaulted the remaining two women.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m. Detroit and Hamtramck police were able to stop the man near Van Dyke and Harper and take him into custody without further incident.
The women, who were patrons of the bar, range in age from 28 to 34. Police have not released the man's age or identity, but say he is from Hamtramck. He is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Police do not believe this is related to the kidnapping cases of Abreeya Brown and Ashley Conaway.
