REDFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News cameras were rolling Saturday as a Michigan State Police SWAT Team took down suspected members of an armed robbery crew.
"My sons were telling me they saw 4-5 guys running in there armed with masks and guns," Witness Robert White recalls. "Ten minutes after that I seen the K-9 unit."
Robert and his wife Chanda could feel their hearts racing. Cops had surrounded the home next door.
In the afternoon hours, they had located a crew of several men who robbed 2 homes a couple blocks over.
"They were hauling TV's in and out of their house and a neighbor came and told me about his house getting broken into and what was missing and it was what I saw," White tells us. "It was amazing how that K-9 dog followed the scent straight down the path, across the street, up the driveway and straight to the guy's house and the dog put his paw on the door as if to say I can't go any further."
Three suspects in total got booked after giving themselves up at a house on the 17000 block of Olympia. A small arsenal of guns was also seized, including some hunting rifles that were police say were just stolen.
Sgt. Kevin Crittendon of the Redford Police says, "A .30-06 with a scope, .22 with scope, pump shotgun, and Springfield old M-1."
If all that weren't bad enough, the mother of a suspect became overcome with emotion and suffered a seizure brought on by anxiety. Our photographer and others helped care for her and located a paramedic to treat her on scene.
