WARREN, Mich., (WXYZ) - Classes begin for students enrolled at three Warren Consolidated Schools Monday as part of a newly developed year-round schooling initiative.
The new schedule at Fillmore, Holden and Siersma Elementary schools will keep students in the classroom from early August until mid June. Students will receive similar breaks as they did in traditional schooling.
Warren Consolidated Schools is the only district in Macomb County to offer year-round educational options to its students.
"The year-round schedule supports a more flexible and balanced learning environment for students and also aligns with the district's strategic plan to prepare our 21st Century learners for a globally competitive world," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert D. Livernois.
Families with children at the three schools were given an opportunity to continue their schooling at home under the year-round option or move to a nearby sister school with a traditional schedule.
