DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Stores push big sales at the last minute before Christmas for Super Saturday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Kohl's is calling this weekend's sale "the biggest of them all" and Macy's is staying open 48 hours straight. Stores all over metro Detroit are advertising last minute deals to get you into their stores.
"I always do last minute Christmas shopping," said Laura Brown.
"I actually, probably, won't be done until Monday," said Shakira Freeman.
It ends up being a super long weekend of sales just in time for Christmas.
"Shoes that are about $80 go down to $40 and sometimes $30," said Brown who came out to find shoes and purses as gifts at Fairlane Mall in Dearborn.
"I like to wait until the last minute because I have kids and I want to see how low the electronics go," said Brown.
They say forget Black Friday when you have days like Super Saturday.
"I actually researched online at Toys "R" Us to see how low their deals are compared to Walmart, Meijer, and even Amazon. It lowered from Black Friday," said Brown.
Retailers will hope for Saturday to beat this year's Black Friday sales.
"I'm a last minute shopper. I love shopping at the last minute, it's just a thrill," said Nicole Marable.
"Crazy, it was crowded. It was too many people in there. So I didn't know what to do but shop," said Kira Embry.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average person still has almost half of their Christmas shopping list to complete by this weekend.
