HARPER WOODS (WXYZ) - "Scares the devil out of me."
Neighbors of 60-year-old Johnny Lee Buckner are stunned to find out the retired General Motors worker was shot and killed in his Harper Woods home.
Buckner's grandson lived with him and he's the one who, police say, found his body 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when he returned to the house on Old Homestead.
"Right now, we're looking at this as a home invasion - robbery," said Harper Woods Police Chief Jim Burke.
Buckner's wife died of an illness about a year ago, and loved ones could only call what has now happened to him "a nightmare".
Police say the killer, or killers, stole Buckner's 2001 Cadillac DeVille. The car is cream-colored with a dark tan roof, Michigan license plate 8JW A60.
Anyone with any information on the murder or the vehicle is urged to call Harper Woods Police at (313) 343-2511 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)SPEAK-UP.
Investigators are not revealing if there were any signs of forced entry or a struggle.
