Right to Work claims about new jobs in dispute

(WXYZ) - The ink is barely dry on Michigan's new Right to Work law, and some of the claims about new jobs are in dispute.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder said he supported the new law because a similar one passed this year in Indiana and new jobs are coming into that state.

Michigan's new law can not be repealed by voters because it contains an appropriation. However, there is a rarely used law that would allow voters to pass a new statute.

That would require petitions signed by 8 percent of the people who voted in the last race for Governor, or 584,000 signatures; it's not an easy task.

Labor unions are also expected to challenge the new law in court.
