Ruling may put brakes on Troy Transit Center

(WXYZ) - Construction is underway on Troy's transit center, but a court ruling may but the brakes on the project.

The decision handed down late this afternoon by the Michigan Court of Appeals basically says the City of Troy is building a transit center on property the city doesn't own.

The City of Troy and the developers of the land, Grand Sakwa Properties Have been fighting this out in court for the past few years.

Late Friday afternoon, a three judge panel ruled against the City of Troy, stating the 2.7 acres of land where the transit center is being built is owned by Grand Sakwa Properties, because the City of Troy didn't hold up its end of the agreement to have the project fully funded in a 10-year time frame.

It was a possibility city leaders were aware of when construction started on the multi-million dollar transit center.
