HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Action News has learned the police situation in Harper Woods that caused two schools in the Grosse Pointe School District to be on lockdown is now over.
Around 2:30 p.m. police say the received a call from neighbors about shots fired at a home on Lancaster. When they arrived, a man was firing shots inside the home. Police say they returned fire, but no one was hit and family members were able to convince the man to surrender.
Poupard Elementary School on Lennon in Harper Woods and Mason Elementary School on Vernier are now off of lockdown and are dismissing students at the regular time.
However, school officials do not want any children walking home, they are asking parents to pick up their students.
