(WXYZ) - There's no doubt the destruction of public artwork is frustrating and disheartening for the many metro Detroiters who are working to rebuild our city.
But on social media we're seeing a community that refuses to give up, and they're recruiting you to join the effort.
Since the arson fire Thursday morning at the "Penny House," there's been an outpouring of support on the Heidelberg Project's Facebook Page.
The group is rallying the troops with a crowdfunding campaign to establish a security system at the art installation, in hopes of preventing these arson fires in the future.
The Heidelberg Project has until December 20 to meet its $50,000 goal. With the money they plan to implement a nightly mobile patrol and install solar-powered lights and surveillance cameras.
If you can't contribute financially, the Heidelberg Project is asking you to use the power of social media to spread the word.
