Track the hitchhiking robot across Canada

(WXYZ) - The robot set to hitchhike its way across Canada is apparently off to a good start.

You may remember Hitchbot created by professors at McMaster University.

It's part of a social experiment to see if people will be generous enough to stop and pick the bot up.

Even David Harris-Smith, co-creator of the robot, admits the whole idea is a bit far fetched.

Hitchbot hit the street in Halifax yesterday.

He was only on the side of the road for two minutes before someone gave him a ride.
