Redford Township police have released a sketch of the suspect in connection to the attempted abduction of a middle school student.

According to police, the 13-year-old Hilbert Middle School student was walking on Kinloch south of the intersection of Grove, near Beech Daly and 6 Mile.

The student said a man driving a blue car approached him and asked "do you want a ride?" When he said no, the suspect got out of his vehicle and grabbed the student's wrist. He was able to pull away and run to school.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, 6-feet-1 with medium build and a gray beard. He was wearing a black hoodie and black hat, driving a blue 4-door car. He has a disheveled appearance and his vehicle has front-end damage and black rims.

Anyone with information is asked to call 313-387-2555 and refer to case number #17-07002. Police are asking anyone with security footage in the area to contact them.

Police say they are looking into whether this is connected to a previous incident involving a suspicious man. He was seen loitering outside MacGowan Elementary School on Kinloch.

Workers asked him why he was there. He said he attended Yale and was doing a study. That made no sense to school staff, who asked him to leave. He matches the description of the man reported in the attempted abduction and was also driving a blue sedan.
