Smart wallet prototype helps users stay on budget

(WXYZ) - Sometimes we find ourselves spending a little bit past our means every now and again.

So, what if you could have a financial advisor in the form of your wallet?

The Living Wallet prototype was developed by a Japanese company and it works in conjunction with a bookkeeping app that manages your budget.

According to the Living Wallet's website , when your balance is a little low, the app alerts the wallet.

The wallet will then go into saving mode and will literally roll away from you on its tiny wheels when you reach for it.

Now, if that doesn't deter you, once you pick it up, it will actually start yelling for help.

As an absolute last resort-the wallet will then send a text message to your parents asking for help so you don't spend more money.

Now, if you have some extra money to spend, the living wallet will play music and read out products from amazon.

The product's website does say that for now, there are no plans for public distribution.
