Permanent and Snapchat. Two words you don't exactly expect to find together...until now.

The social media company announced the launch ofMemories in a recent blog post.

This new feature will allow users to store their snaps, basically creating an in-app camera roll of sorts.

To save a snap to Memories, users just have to hit a small icon on the bottom of the picture or video after it's taken. A swipe up from the camera will give you access to your archive where you can reportedly search for stories or snaps with keywords.

Snapchat says Memories will also let you create new content from your storage. If you post a snap to your story that’s over a day old, it will be bordered by a frame. Think of it as a visual indicator of the past.

According to the blog, there will also be a "My Eyes Only" tag for some snaps that you’d like to keep private if you decide to show a collection from Memories to a friend.

The feature will be rolling out to users over the next month.
