St. Vincent de Paul, WXYZ team up for successful holiday telethon

DETROIT (WXYZ) - St. Vincent de Paul ( SVdP ) held their 6th Annual St. Vincent de Paul Telethon on Thursday, December 6 at WXYZ-TV Channel 7. This annual fundraising effort focused on the touching stories of individuals in metro Detroit who depend on various SVdP services to assist their families each day.

A variety of sponsors including: Quicken Loans, Great Expressions Dental Centers, R.L. Polk & Co., Pat Milliken Ford and Daly Merritt Insurance were on-site at the WXYZ studios to answer phones and encourage viewers to join the mission of St. Vincent de Paul as they "Discover the Joy of Giving."

"We are extremely grateful for our generous sponsors and volunteers," said Bill Brazier, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul. "It is because of their dedication and commitment that we are able to provide basic needs such as food, clothing, dental care and utility assistance to families each year."

Detroit professional sports teams also took part during this special day. Mascots including PAWS and Roary along with Detroit Lions alumni were at the telethon alongside WXYZ host Vic Faust providing support and a helping hand.

St. Vincent de Paul is one of the oldest and most respected human service organizations in Southeast Michigan. For over 125 years, SVdP has provided critical social services such as food, clothing, medical and dental care and utility assistance to individuals in our community.
