State Board of Canvassers may certify mayoral primary election results Tuesday

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroiters may finally get the results of the August's mayoral primary, nearly a month after the vote.

The State Board of Canvassers is set to meet Tuesday to certify the election. It follows weeks of controversy over counting write-in votes in the mayor's race.

The state stepped in to recount the votes and completed the process last week before a lawsuit could derail the process.

Mike Duggan remained as the candidate receiving the  most votes. He'll face off with Benny Napoleon in November.

Once the vote is certified, there's expected to be a call for a recount.
