Funeral services are scheduled for a 9-year-old boy with cancer who spent a day as Detroit's honorary police chief.
Services for Jayvon Felton are scheduled for Monday at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit. Burial will follow at Woodmere Cemetery.
Felton was diagnosed in April with leukemia, and died Feb. 24 at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
The fourth-grader had always wanted to be a Detroit police officer, and on Jan. 31, Felton was flown by helicopter to police headquarters where he was greeted by Detroit Police Chief James Craig and classmates from Roberto Clemente Academy.
He was sworn in that day as Detroit's "new" top cop and wore a blue SWAT uniform, embroidered with his name.
