PLYMOUTH, Mich. - A 37-year-old man from Northville has been charged with having sexual contact with a teenage girl.
Robert Louis Messer faces first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges as well as a count of accosting a minor for immoral purposes.
Messer was arraigned Thursday in Plymouth District Court.
Authorities say Messer and the 15-year-old girl disappeared after they were seen together Sunday.
The two were found Tuesday in a Washtenaw County field. Investigators say the pair had been in a long term relationship and the sexual contact between the two started when the victim was as young as 12 years-old.
Investigators asked for a high bond and said they believe Messer is a flight risk.
During his video arraignment, Messer said "I am not a threat to anybody."
Bond was set at $2,000,000 10%.
The mother of the 15 year-old girl said she is doing fine, but will be gettting counseling.
The mother says she feels betrayed by Messer, a man who she thought was a family friend.
Police have said they left notes expressing their love for each other.
