NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (AP) - Police conducting a drug raid at a Detroit-area home found the remains of several dogs wrapped in plastic in a kitchen freezer alongside frozen food.
Investigators were looking into suspected illegal and prescription drug sales at the New Baltimore house.
Police executed a search warrant Tuesday and discovered the dead dogs as well as evidence of a commercial breeding or puppy mill operation.
New Baltimore Police Chief Tim Wiley tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens police aren't sure why the dogs were in the freezer, but it has them "quite concerned."
Macomb County Animal Control officials returned to the home Wednesday.
A woman who lives at the house is facing numerous charges.
