Storm damage across metro Detroit

(WXYZ) - DTE crews scrambled to get the power back on for residents in the hardest hit area following Wednesday storms tonight.

In Wayne County, hundreds of travelers at Metro Airport were stuck in lines after the power went off around 3:30 this afternoon, shutting down security for hours until the power was restored around 8:30 p.m.

In Oakland County, residents along Woodward Avenue from 12 Mile north to Square Lake Road were dealing with dark stoplights and a long night of no air conditioning.

Residents in Macomb County were affected, too. A home in Sterling Heights was hit with a bolt of lightning.
