DTE reports 18,000 without power throughout metro Detroit

(WXYZ) - DTE Energy reports that 18,000 customers are without power after Tuesday afternoon's storms.

The vast majority of them are in Wayne County and DTE says they should have their power restored by sometime tonight.

DTE says they have already restored power to 147,000 customers who were affected by the storms.

Crews are working 16-hour shifts around the clock to restore service. About 120 additional crews from the Midwest will start arriving Wednesday to assist restoration efforts.

Wayne County appears to have been among the hardest hit areas.

Winds caused more than 800 reported power lines down. Please remember to use extreme caution and assume any wire is live. Stay at least 20 feet away from a downed wire, and call DTE at 800-477-4747 to report it.
