'Biggest Loser' Arrested For Flour Throwing

Last Update: 1/08/2009 10:41 am
CENTER LINE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A Macomb County woman who is competing on the current season of "The Biggest Loser" television show has been charged with domestic violence. Shanon Thomas is accused of throwing flour in the face of her tenant.

Court records show the incident happened December 16. Thomas was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday. Thomas is accused of yelling at the tenant to lower the volume on his television, breaking some Christmas tree bulbs, and then throwing flour at the man. The tenant, Michael Nolden, has since moved out of the basement room he was renting.

During her arraignment, Thomas appeared surprised by the allegations. She told the judge that Nolden threw a pan in her direction and "he told me to get a pizza" because she was on the show. The judge entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

This isn't Thomas' first run-in with the law. Court records show that in 2004 she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Royal Oak. Thomas pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and was put on 12 months probation and fined $1,345. Reports from the Macomb Daily also indicate that she had other legal troubles earlier in her life. She now faces up to 93 days in jail on the domestic violence charges. A trial day has not been set.

Thomas is competing as one of the 11 "couples" teams on NBC's weight-loss show, along with her mother. It premiered last night. During the show it was revealed that nine of the contestants would be sent home to try and lose weight, while their partners remained at the show's complex. Shanon's mother and partner Helen Phillips were chosen to remain in Los Angeles.
