Dog Survives Stabbing, Reward Offered

Last Update: 12/10/2008 4:45 am
DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Michigan Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who intentionally stabbed a dog with a 10" knife.

IN THE VIDEO PLAYER ON THE RIGHT, VAL CLARK UPDATES THE CONDITION OF THE DOG, APTLY NAMED "STEEL"

The dog was found Saturday wandering in the area of Chapel and Lyndon in Detroit. A nearby homeowner noticed the German Shepherd-Pitbull Mix had a knife sticking out of his side.

The homeowner wrapped the dog in blankets and notified the Humane Society. Investigators have nicknamed the dog "Steel."

Neighbors in the area say they have seen the dog in the area before and say he is a friendly stray.

"Steel" is doing well and the Humane Society hopes to be able to adopt him out very soon.

If you have any information that could help in the investigation, please contact the Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigations Hotline at (313) 872-3401.
