rather than give tax credit to get companies to open in the state maybe the Governor can set up a "leaving Michigan" tax that charges a business as it relocates out of state? sort of an "exit fee" so to speak.

Someone needs to get into the business of making a lot of extension cords

Well it's quite sure we in Michigan do not have the advanced technology like Asian company's. So someone start a battery factory here!

DustyJunque hit the nail on the head. The businesses that have been here in Michigan for years get squeezed by this most business-unfriendly Governor this state has ever seen. All the while Jenny bends over backwards trying to lure out of-state and foreign companies with huge taxbreaks; so huge in fact, the state is hardly going to generate any revenue from these Johnny-Come-Lately's. Of course Hollywood is now interested in Michigan, they can come here and have the citizens of Michigan pay for a good portion of their movie production cost! I know we need to lure new businesses to Michigan, but there needs to be a balance of incentives to both keep the existing Michigan businesses in Michigan, and lure new business to the State.

how 'bout giving a tax break to existing small businesses (like mine) to not only keep me open but to keep me from moving out of state...? 30 thousand dollars a year for a company making under a million is hard to swallow.
