chasas---the american workers at foreign auto transplants here in the usa turn down the uaw to organize them. for sure if conditions are as bad as you state, they would be signing up with the uaw.

Drag it down...You have no idea what this company was like without the UAW. No full time employees, laborers had to stand outside each morning and hope a boss would call them inside to work for the day. 8 bucks a day and only got paid if you didnt use the bathroom too much. Shine your bosses shoes to be assured work in the morning. No safety, no quality at all, (look at the model T) bosses would come into your house and if they didnt like what they see of your wife or kids than BAM never work again. The UAW brought this company up and worked together with this company to create good, safe, good paying jobs. This company learned that it is better to treat your employees with fairness, good moral conduct and they will take care of you. Unless you actually worked in one of these factorys you have no idea what these employees do for these companys every day........

Good post speedy. This ONLY problem I have with the UAW is their ability to wag the dog with the threat of strikes. I don't begrudge them their HONEST PAY. Honest pay does not include getting paid to smoke week, drink, leave company property, sit at home, sit in the Jobs Banks or painting an old person's house. Paint that house on your OWN TIME.

the world won't end if the us auto makers go bust. in fact it may be the best thing for michigan. it will force a new type of economy on southeast michigan without a uaw to drag it down. the us auto makers are living in the last century and have out lived their usefulness.
