TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - A single engine plane crashed Thursday night after takeoff from the Oakland/Troy Airport.
Airport officials say the plane lost power.
The fire chief says after the plane lost altitude, it hit a shopping car corral, lost part of its landing gear and skipped over some trees.
The plane then went under some power lines and came to rest in the field behind Bailey's, which is on the eastern end of the Walmart parking lot.
The crash landing sparked a few small fires, which were quickly put out.
The 48 year old pilot from Hillsdale was the only person on board. He was not hurt. His name has not been released.
