WARREN, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit mayor decided a warning wasn't enough after he was stopped for speeding in his city.
So Warren Mayor Jim Fouts asked for a ticket instead - and got it.
The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News and The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens report Fouts was pulled over Monday in his 2009 Dodge Charger on the way to City Hall for going 5 mph over the 40 mph speed limit.
Fouts says he was uncomfortable the entire day with just a warning, thinking it might be construed as favoritism. So the mayor called the deputy police commissioner and demanded the ticket.
Fouts says: "Some people have questioned my sanity."
Police later delivered it to the mayor's office, and Fouts sent $100 with a staffer to pay the civil infraction.
