(WXYZ) - Repair work on a twelve mile portion of a 96-inch water main is completed, but the effects are expected to affect thousand of homes and businesses in Macomb and Oakland Counties.
PEGGY AGAR REPORTS IN THE VIDEO PLAYER ON THE RIGHTThe effort fixed a leak on Dequindre at the border of Rochester Hills and Shelby Township. The repair work forced crews to shut down the main between 20 and 32 Mile Roads until 7:00 a.m Thursday, July 2. A portion of Dequindre from South Boulevard to Auburn Road was also closed.
The repairs directly effected water pressure in the following communities:
- Washington Township
- Shelby Township
- Rochester Hills
- Macomb Township
- Chesterfield Township
- Harrison Township
- Lenox Township
- The Village of New Haven
- Parts of Romeo
- Sections of the City of Rochester
People living in those communities, as well as in Clinton Township, Sterling Heights and Utica were asked to refrain from using water outside from noon Wednesday to noon Thursday.
Boil Water Alerts were also put in effect in Washington Township, the City of Rochester and Shelby Township. They will last until further notice.
