If you suffer with sleep disturbances, please visit your doctor who can give you a thorough medical exam.

Certain illnesses can cause sleepless nights like depression, restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea.

These are all treatable and can help you get the recommend 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.

There are many things you can try to help improve your sleep.

Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Make sure the bedroom temperature is comfortable for you. Stick to a schedule for going to bed and getting up.

Shut down all electronics including your phone and the TV – the light can keep your brain alert.

Get regular exercise every day but not too close to bedtime, and lastly, try to get morning sun exposure.
