Target recalls brand of dog treats due to possible salmonella contamination

(WXYZ) - Target is recalling a brand of dog treats due to a possible salmonella contamination.

 The Food and Drug Administration says some packages of Boots and Barkley American Beef Bully Sticks may have salmonella.

The FDA tested the six count, 5-inch packages marked with the code number:  647-263-899-189, and found it tested positive for salmonella for the following lot:

23 rd of September 2014

You can return this product to Target for a refund. Also, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly if you've handled the treats.

Symptoms for salmonella poisoning are similar for humans and pets. They include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. Dogs may also seem lethargic and refuse to eat. There have been no reports of sick people or dogs.
