The deadline to file your taxes is Monday, April 18, and though they used to be, metro Detroit post offices will not be open late for late filers.

According to the USPS, the only post office that will stay open late is the George W. Young Post Office at 1401 W. Fort St. in Detroit. That will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday.

“We expect a steady flow of traffic, however not as hectic as in previous years. This is due largely in part to the diversion of filers using online tax services," Detroit Postmaster Derron Bray said in a release.

The postal service say though some post offices used to stay open until midnight on tax day, those post offices will be open their regular business hours. The Redford post office on Beech Daly will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the Royal Oak post office on 2nd St. will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Both branches used to be open until midnight.
