(WXYZ) - The New York City Auto Show is happening right now, but we have an important unveiling of a new Cadillac for you before the cover comes off in the Big Apple.
The 2014 CTS is longer, lighter, faster and comes with 420 horsepower.
"The car was made longer to hit the sweet spot of the segment," said Cadillac Design Chief Mark Adams. "It's a lot lighter-- from 250 to 300 pounds lighter than comparable vehicles"
Cadillac hopes this new longer and lighter design will entice drivers away from the 5 Series BMW, E-Class Mercedes and Audi A-6 with its new look, better gas mileage and better performance with an available 450 horsepower, eight-speed automatic twin turbo engine.
But a look inside may be enough to persuade Euro car fans, because standard options include leather and wood.
"We wanted to create a feeling of bespoke luxury and to make it feel handcrafted, warm and inviting," said Adams.
And the face of the CTS has been aggressively modified, too, and the body has also been lowered, giving it a leaner more muscular feel.
"This new face is very bold, it's very Cadillac, but at same time it has its own personality," said Adams.
The CTS can go 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds, but at what cost?
The brand is not yet unveiling the price of the CTS, but the expectation is around $40,000.
