The Call For Action Team brings loved ones together for Thanksgiving after flight booking mistake

ROMULUS, MI (WXYZ) - A small mistake threatened to keep Honee Berlin and her three children from seeing loved ones here in Metro-Detroit for Thanksgiving, but then a relative reached out to our Call For Action Team, hoping for a happy ending.

And the Call For Action Team delivered.

Honee and her children live in Dallas and booked tickets on Delta Air Lines that they thought would lead to a happy reunion with relatives here in Michigan.

But Honee mixed up the airport codes when booking the tickets.

Honee thought she was booking tickets for a flight from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Detroit Metro Airport (DTW), but she mixed up the letters and mistakenly bought tickets that had them departing from Metro Airport.

"We booked the flight incorrectly and we didn't think we would get here," said Honee Berlin.

Delta representatives reportedly told Honee that she would lose the money she had already spent on the tickets and would have to purchase new tickets at over a thousand dollars each.

That meant Honee, who lost her husband two years ago, and her children who lost their father, would not be spending Thanksgiving here in Michigan with loved ones.

Thankfully, Honee's sister-in-law, Evelyn Berlin, wasn't ready to just give up on seeing them, so she reached out to 7's Call For Action Team.

Call For Action went to work for the Berlins and, Tuesday afternoon, Honee and her children arrived at Metro Airport and into Evelyn's welcoming arms.

"We cannot thank Channel 7 and Delta enough," said Evelyn.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Berlins!
