Tornadoes possible in metro Detroit as storms move through

(WXYZ) - Metro Detroit's weather will be among the most active nationwide today, and includes the possibility of tornadoes. We have an enhanced risk of severe weather, a "Level 3" on a 5-tiered system.

First round of storms this morning brought heavy rain, vivid lightning and gusty winds, but not severe weather.

This afternoon strong to severe storms could develop and sweep across Metro Detroit.

These storms have the potential to generate damaging winds, large hail up to 1 inch and a chance for 1 or 2 tornadoes.

This will have a big impact on the evening drive.

This afternoon: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms likely. Some could be severe in the afternoon, especially from 2-8 PM  Highs: 68-73 / Winds: SW 10-20

Tonight: Storms ending, cooler.  Lows: 43-46 / Winds: W 10-20

Friday: Partly sunny. Highs: 53-57 / Winds: W 10-20
