A big announcement is expected today from one of Detroit's most active community groups.
The Cody Rouge Neighborhood expects to reveal a plan that involves major corporations and non-profits, and promises to transform the community.
The neighborhood organization says they have partnered with DTE Energy, General Motors, the Skillman Foundation and Quicken Loans to create a comprehensive plan to turn their community into a premiere Detroit neighborhood.
The Cody Rouge area was considered a blighted area with crime and abandoned homes, but for years the neighbors have fought back.
7 Action News was there as they tore down vacant homes and cleaned up parks.
Today is certainly a milestone. Corporations that have helped to turn around downtown are now expanding their outreach to city blocks.
That plan is expected to be announced around 10 a.m.
