DETROIT (WXYZ) - Police have one person in custody in connection to the hit and run of an 8-year-old girl who was left in critical condition. They believe the person is the suspected driver.
Earlier Friday, police had two persons of interest in the case, but they have been let go. A warrant is expected to be sought Saturday. Another person of interest in the case is now the person they believe was driving the car.
Kamari Smith was with a group of kids getting ice cream on Robson Street when a silver Dodge Charger struck her on Monday, May 19 on Detroit's west side.
Detroit Police say they have the silver Dodge Charger they believe was involved.
Sources tell 7 Action News they think body work has been done to the car. Sources also say hair and blood might have possibly been found on the car.
According to family, Kamari has a slim chance of survival and is not breathing on her own.
She is being treated at Children's Hospital.
